Join me for a fun and creative Crochet Garment Workshop designed to help you build the skills and confidence to make your own wearable pieces!
In the sessions, you’ll learn the essentials of crochet garment construction, from understanding shaping, swatch making and fit. We’ll start with a brief introduction to garment-making theory, discovering different crochet garment constructions before diving into our main project: the popular hexagon cardigan (or you can make jumper/sweater version if you prefer).
Guided step-by-step, you’ll explore how two simple hexagons can be transformed into a stylish, customisable cardi. You do not have to be experienced crocheter to join, if you can make a granny square, you can make this cardigan. This workshop will provide practical tips, pattern guidance, and hands-on support. By the end, you’ll have made a strong start on your own hexagon cardi and leave equipped with the knowledge, techniques, and inspiration to complete it at home with confidence. This workshop is running over two sessions and you should be able to attend both.
You will need to bring:
- Yarn of your choice (you will need approximately 500g to 1000g per garment depending on yarn type and size you are making, please only bring 100g to your first lesson). Remember, thicker the yarn, the quicker your project comes together, but you will need more grams and item will be heavier, for thinner yarns like 4ply, you have more meters/yards per gram and you may only need 400g for an adult sized cardigan.
Acrylic yarn is good choice for your first crochet garment as it is readily available and cost effective, however wool based fibers are nicer to wear (providing you are not allergic). I would recommed merino wool. For a big project like this, it can get expensive, but after putting lot of work into your garment, you would want to be able to enjoy wearing it – buy the best quality you can afford. - Crochet hook you are comfortable working with and is suitable for your chosen yarn. If you prefer a drapier fit, please use slightly larger hook to what is recommended on your yarn label.
Note: this workshop has a minimum participant requirement (3) and could be cancelled if that is not reached, I will decide 10 days prior the course date if it is viable to run or not. If the workshop is cancelled, you will receive full refund or you can book to alternative session.
